So, if you bank at 5/3 Bank you REALLY need to read this.
I've been banking with First Charter since i began banking almost 7 years ago. Recently they were bought out by 5/3 Bank and since then i've had problem after problem with these people.
First of all, last week i had an automatic payment for my car insurance coming out. I knew i wouldn't have enough money for it until the next day, so to keep it from bouncing, my mom was going to put $150 in my bank account to cover it. She was first told that she couldn't GIVE me money b/c her name isn't on my account. With first charter it was never a problem. And i don't see why it was such a big deal. She was GIVING AWAY money, not taking it away. But i digress.
Finally they told her they would allow it this one time. So it was done... $150 was going to be put into my account. So, a couple days later i'm checking my account online, like i always do. And what's this??? A $33 OVERDRAFT FEE. No way!!! I began to look at my statement and guess what... The bank TOOK OUT $150 out of my account and then put it back in. They never deposited the money like they were told. Immediately i call them, explain the situation, and i'm told that it will be taken care of. Two days later it's still there. Call again. "it'll be taken care of." a day later, still there. Finally, almost a week later, it's taken off.
Now the latest incident. I deposited my paycheck of $470 on monday evening. I check my account last night and they've only put in $47, cutting me $400 short! So, i call the bank this morning and right now we're still dealing with issues. They say the atm deposit was only for $47, which is a lie. They say they'll investigate it and if the check does turn up to be $470, it'll take about 3-5 business days until it's credited into my account. I'm trying to work on getting a carbon copy of the check from my boss. And once it's in my hands, it's going to the bank and i'm demanding the money into my account right then and there.
In the meantime, all i can do is wait... With $16.25 in my account. But rest assured, if i'm charged any overdraft fees 5/3 Bank WILL reverse. And once this is taken care of, i'm changing banks.
But word of advice to everyone out there that banks with 5/3 Bank... Get out while you can!
