I had tried to apply for a payday loan and went to the Last Chance Payday Loan website where I filled out the application. The next day I received an email from a company called Id Theft Protection thanking me for subscribing to their service.
I had no idea who this company was and did not sign up for any services. I promptly emailed the company and stated that I was cancelling my subscription. I thought that would be the end of it until the next day on my bank account was a'preauthorized' debit of 31.98 from Id Theft Protection services! I found the phone number on my cancellation email and called and spoke to someone in customer service who told me to go to the website with my confirmation number that I had previously received to request a refund. I filled out the request and was given a web address to follow up on the status of my refund. A couple of hours later I got the answer - NO! The letter stated that it was indeed Me that filled out the original application with all my bank info that was confirmed as matching to my name and email. The letter states the transaction was "not fraudulent" and must have been the result of user error! My refund has been declined...
How awesome is that? I try to get a loan because I need to pay bills and end up getting ripped off 31.98!! That is my first and last time ever using the internet for anything but music and info...
