I filed chapter 13 amost 6 years ago. GMAC has insisted that the loan was being paid by the WEP. This is not true as I left GMAC outside of the 13. I don't live in the home, and was allowing a relative to make the payments. However, a year and half ago, they said I owed 4500 in charges. I said what are the other charges you are referring to? I could never get a straight answer. They said I was late for 2 years of payments, yet I have cashed checks for every month, and it wasn't easy to get those, since they were so old.
Finally, I received some information on the OTHER charges. They supposedly sent out property inspectors 3 times in one year. They charged me over 375 dollars per inspection. Not only this, I was never informed they were doing this. On top of this, they said I was not paying my insurance, which I was, and they charged me almost 3000 in charges for that on a 28,000 dollar home.in total, over 2 years I racked up 7,450 dollars in charges.
Which amazes me, because my payment was only 214 a month. So, I paid every month for 2 years, and got and extra 7k in charges. I can't believe they allow this to happen. But, yet again, we see that the government is not interested in taking on these deceptive practices by the huge companies.
On a side note, I did make arrangements to have the charges reduced if they remove the negative impact on my account. I had to pay over 2500, and make 4 regular payments of 300. Not to mention, I paid the December payment early so it would be on time, and he said now I had to make an extra payment, because I sent it in too early. NO LIE!!! And, as you can guess, they are not holding to their end of the agreement. No removal of the negative impact on my credit bureau report, which they promised to take care of after I made all the payments.
