At the end of a billing cycle I was under my credit limit. Capital One added the interest for the period. The combination of my balance and the interest that was added caused the balance due to be over the limit. Capital One then assessed an overlimit fee of $39.00.
Thus, the amount owed to Capital One went over the credit limit because of the interest that was assessed, and not for charges that were made on the card.
