We purchased a home based video business from Digtal Video Designs two years ago. All the product cost quite a bit of money and this was not a franchise. We were given equipment that was made and delivered by Barry Greenberg. Unfortunately if the equipment went completely bad, like ours did, we couldn't get the hundreds of dollars worth of software back on as this guy had loaded our equipment along with others with his information. When approaching the Edius Software company, I was informed he had abused the licensing by about 50 times. Needless to say, I spent about 2K in replacing software and repairing a computer.
I then find out he has placed another new producer about 4 miles from my house. He of course said we had not written agreement but that we had an oral of him telling me when and where he was putting someone on. 4 MILES??? This is a big country and the guy puts on a new vendor this close and also suggested a name for this "new company" and low and behold it's VERY close to our name.
We do have lot's of competition but he didn't have to place someone so close, so I guess he just doesn't care, once he lands you and gets his HUGE check. I asked him WHY? His retort was, this person was going to buy from someone, so why not him? I said, wouldn't you rather have a friendly producer in your little group as opposed to an angry one? He took the money.
My suggestion? If you really want a home based Video business, call an existing one that is in another state and pay them a few thousand as opposed to using Digital Video Design. Good luck..
