New Alliance Bank
Overdrafts and the Underpaid!

Overdrafts happen this is just something most people who live paycheck to paycheck may encounter. I understand that when you overdraft you should be penalized the overdraft fee as an alert to you that you are in a negative balance but what really irks me is that banks (Not just New Alliance bank I mention this bank becasuse thisis my bank) do not have their customers best interest in mind. Why is it that these big corporations can not have something in place that only allows you to overdraft once on your account, why do these banks allow you to continue to overdraft? I mean, I know the reason (too make more money) but why? Where has the customer service gone too? What happened to protecting their customers money?

I understand that I should be keeping records of my money and what I have in the bank but as I mentioned before when you live paycheck to paycheck just barley making ends meet and then you see overdrafts in the amount of 30.00 per charge hit your already negative account you have to ask why the banks can not limit the amount of overdrafts on your account. I just think it really is a scam on the poor. The banks know that people of small or low income can not afford the basic necessities and they feed on this! When i have to choose food shopping, paying my mortgage, making my car payment and paying the high cost of oil to heat my home i have to admit I know I may overdraft but unfortunately I am forced too. Also I notice that they will cover the higher amount withdrawaled instead of spreading the money to the few charges they cover the larger one and then let the small withdrawls turn into overdrafts (that makes no sense) why not disburse my money and cover the little ones and then charge me onmly one overdraft?

I just wished the government would force the banks to make better efforts to prevent and protect their customers.
