US Bank
Ripoff

I just wanted to add my two cents or maybe $500 worth to the US Bank rip off, and to let others know that I have had an account with US bank for four years now. I have struggled with them since I opened the account. It seems as though they trick you, and are inconsistent with the deposit and posting rules. I have been charged thousands of dollars, and have had 8 overdraft charges in one day!!! This is just one instance, I have had many many more. This was the major one that put me over the edge. They played that game on me that I need to manage my finances better etc. I pay my bills on time, and I check my account daily. What more can you ask for?

US Bank told me that I was not eligible for overdraft protection in one instance but was able to have a savings account. So what had happened was they neglected to tell me that I could have my savings account linked to my checking account, and the funds could be automatically transferred from my savings account to cover my checking if it happen to go overdrawn. Well I called them to see what I could do about the 8 overdraft charges because I had plenty of money in my savings account to cover the purchases posted to my account. The customer service person said "you don't have overdraft protection?" I told her that I was not approved to have it, and she proceeded to tell me that I could have my savings linked to my checking to cover overdrafts. At that moment I was livid, and told her that I absolutely wanted that feature but was unaware of it, and to please reverse the 8 overdraft charges b/c I had money in my savings to cover those purchases.

So they credited me back the fees, and said that it was their mistake by not informing me. For their mistake they were going to give a whopping $5 credit to my account. Again, they credited it to my account, but then a few days later it was debited out my account for a fee to transfer. So really you don't get the $5!!! RIIIIIIIIP OFFFFFFFFFF. I have been wanting to close my account for some time now, but am researching a better place to house my hard earned money. Possibly a credit union, they have much much better customer service. The only thing is stopping me from using a credit union is that they are not as convenient as US Bank.

I too agree that US Bank and other banks are making a killing off of people who live paycheck to paycheck, and that they time their postings and deposits. I believe too that these banks intentions are not for the good of the consumer but for the greed of themselves. These banks have gotten way too greedy, and are praying on middle class incomes!!!
