I would like to let others know how I was able to keep Ameritrust from taking any funds from my bank account. I was contacted by Ameritrust the last week of November. I was sold the idea that I would receive a cridet card with a balance of 2,000 dollars. I questioned the card and asked if the card could be used anywhere. I was told yes that the card was a regular credit card and could be used anywhere. Ameritrust asked for a $200 deposit which I would get back in certificates to pay my balance on the card. I did not give them any information right away. I called my wife and we discussed the information.
With Christmas around the corner we decided to get the card and use it to purchase items for our two children. I called Ameritrust back and gave them my account information and was exicited about the transaction. Then something told me to check out the company on the internet. Wow what a surpise to find that the whole deal was a rip off and hundreds of people had already been taking for money. I became very upset and called my wife, telling her the bad news. That the reports made on Ameritrust were bad and that if we were to cancel the card, they took the money anyways.
So I sat at home the next day thinking of was to stop Ameritrust from taking 200 dollars from my account. This is what I came up with. I called the 800 customer service number. I was able to get through and talked to a women. I asked her how I canceled the card order. She informed me that I had to write a letter stating I did not want the card and mail to the address she provided me. I asked the women again if I write this letter the card will be canceled and no money will be taking from my account. The women said yes that no money would be taking form my account. I asked the women again to give me the address to send the letter. The women gave me the address again. I again asked the women that the order would be canceled. The women said yes it would be canceled.
I then informed the women that I was recording our converstation and that I had contacted my bank about the transaction. I told the women that I was going to give a copy of the tape to my bank. I told the women that if any money was taking from my account my back was prepared to file fuad charges. The women became very angry and said I could not record her and hung up on me.
I drafted a letter to Ameritrust canceling my order and sent it certified mail. I also sent a letter to Ameritrust by regular mail. I got the return on the certified mail about 4 days later and as of Jan 5 no money has been taking from my account. I hope this helps others good luck, I still check my account daily.
