Reporting to Equifax, lies. They reported I paid $1.00 that I didnt to try to keep the account current

This company is lying on my credit reports. They purchased an old debt from 8 that I do not recall owing, and reported it as account opened 4, since that is when they bought the account. I filed a dispute with Equifax and and now, the lowered the debt from $295 to $294, as if I made a payment of $1.00, so they can keep it from getting to old to be put ion the credit report. I did not pay this dollar, and now it used to say last activity 8, now it says 11. I should be off the credit report by August of next year but now it wont be. To me that should be illegal. I got an email on the dispute from Equifax to call them. I do not hear well and do not use TDD so I am at a catch 22.
