Asset Acceptance LLC
Old Providian Cc Long Gone ripoff, harassment, SOL

Back in I got a Providian credit card. It defaulted in May after I moved to England and wasn't able to make payments any longer. I lived in England for almost 6 years before returning to the States again.

My mother told me that they were harassed for years about my debt, even after being told I didn't live there any longer. They have to resort to changing their phone number and getting it unlisted in order to stop the harassing calls.

Now that I am back, I have been able to get a mobile phone and a new credit card, but I have avoided the companies I had cards with before. This morning I got a phone call from a number I didn't recognize so I let my voicemail take it. Turns out it was Asset Acceptance. HOW they got my phone number I have no idea. I have input every phone number for them I could find into my phone and gave it a unique name so I know if they try calling again. I am not going to call them back or speak with them.

However, my mother told me today that a few days ago they got a letter from Asset Acceptance for me. The letter said they "believe you have received a credit card and offered you to pay them off with that card." She shredded it and I told her to do the same with anything else they get.

Thing is, that's in Texas, and I live in Wisconsin.

For the actual defaulted account, on my credit report it says:
PBC: account opened in 4
Reported by: transunion 11, experian 11, equifax 7

Transunion and Equifax show it as derogatory, but Experian shows it as "closed (transferred)". Further, the numbers don't match up. Each lists a different high balance or no high balance, each lists a difference limit or no limit, Transunion shows "past due: $0" but the other two don't have a comment there. And Equifax is showing a payment of $69 dollars but doesn't say when it was made, and the other two don't show the last (supposed) payment. How can Equifax be showing it reported in 2004 when it defaulted in 2002?

Asset Acceptance is also on my credit report as AAC as an "installment account", but only shows up under Equifax. The information there says it was reported in 12 with a past due balance of $2818 and a last payment of $0. However, the high balance reported for PBC by Equifax is $1750 and Transuniion $2344. I am sure AAC will be reporting to Transunion and Experian shortly too.

In another section under "collection agencies" I have Asset Acceptance LLC listed again. It says it was opened in 10 and was reported in 12. It is showing the original balance as $2615 and the current balance as $2818.

I believe they are attempting to re-age the account in order to try and push up the SOL, and are also inflating the debt beyond what it was originally. Because of this, it is pushing my credit score farther down into the toilet as well. I don't have funds to get a lawyer or anything to get help with this, and I am not 100% sure what I can do at this point. I know the SOL for legal pursuit of the debt is coming up quick, but all of the conflicting dates and data on my credit report have me worried. Some of the information is reported years beyond when it defaulted so it looks more recent than it is.

I am waiting at this point and gathering information, but I am finding their actions to be pretty shady.
