Claim of Citibank Debt I Never Had and Not on Credit Report

Midland Funding LLC says they have bought a debt from Citibank to which I have never had an account with! If I did wouldn't Citibank send me bills, and if I didn't pay don't you think they would call me personally! Also I checked my credit report and there is nothing with regards to me having ever had an account with them! This is bulls*t!!! Fraud!!
