We had to file bankruptcy in my dissertation year 1997. Due to injuries sustained in an automobiile accident and my spouse's disability. I was forced to withdraw from my doctoral program.
I called the student loan people SalleMay and filed all the appropriate paper work for the hardship that we were under.
Shortly thereafter, the phone calls came in from as early as six AM and as late as one AM. The phone numbers were unidentifiable. The people that left messages were aggressive using threats, profanity. A woman who identified herself to our youngest son as a Mrs. Brown told him " If your mother hadn't gotton off the f*en boat and stole government funds, this wouldn't have f*en happened." Another voice named Mark called our immediate neighbor and told her that I owed the federal government money and that she was required to let me know that if I did not respond I would go to jail. My neighbor, horrified because she knew that my spouse is so ill, could not find the words to apologize enough to me for coming over. She told me she feared for us as they were constantly leaving messages like this on her machine.
This type of behavior has been going on for ten years and I could not find anyone to help me. Until I saw your page today.
Most recently as of 07/23/07 this Allied company called every fifteen minutes to our home. On 07/27/07 my spouse sustained renal failure from the harrssement his blood pressure sord and he became unresponsive to me. I called 911 and he was hospitalized for four days. His transplanted kidney is trying to function we are hoping that it will.
I cannot express the heart ache these ciollection agencies have caused me. I have not been able to find employment. Every where I apply, they turn me down because these comapnies, I do not how have ruined my credit and reputation.
I went to school to gain an education so that I could provide for our home. A dedicated spouse who worked so very hard for us. I have only reaped tears, sorrow, humilation and a deep depression.
Our children have been contacted at their homes, their spouse's most recently on 07.26/07 Allied Interstate contacted our newly-wed son's wife's parents and left a threatening message on their machine that I needed to respond to their call for I was being taken to court. They even left a false court identification number. When his inlaws called the number to warn them that they had violated persoanl privacy laws, the phone numbe had been disconected. This was the precurser to my spouse's renal failure.
