I too have had several problems out of MBNA. I am a mid-twenties woman with three children who works two jobs and just last month finished school. I originally opened my accounts several years ago. There are two that I am speaking of. I started my first one off with a $2000 credit limit. After a while they stated that I have had good credit and increased it to 5000. I started with a 16.99% apr, they increased it to 27.99 (a bit ridiculous), but with working so hard and in the middle of a move and all, I needed the money.in the midst of all of this they opened a new account for me also again 2000.
Just a few months ago I called them and got a payoff balance, and true I have been late a few times, they have always gotten their money and it was never more than 30 days late except once in the several years I was there. I asked when calling about my payoff if as soon as I paid this they would be closing my account or if I would be able to borrow money against my already open loan, the man said the account would remain open and I could call and get money once the account showed as being paid off. NOT SO!
I paid BOTH of my accounts off, two years early mind you, and two months later I asked for the use of about 1500 - 2000 of one of my loans that I paid off early. They not only refused me the use of it, they closed both of my accounts and have it reported on my credit file that I am not credit worthy, actually it says "CLOSED ACCOUNTS BY CREDITOR"
I love how they lied to me all the way around.By the

June i had all three of my kids birthdays and my
Graduation. It was a tight month and now some of my
Other bills got behind because they said one thing and
Lied again.
I shouldnt have paid them off, atleast then they would
Have left my account open and not screwed me on my credit
