After being unemployed for over a year, and exhausting all other avenues of emptying retirement accounts, etc., we were unable to keep up with our mortgage anymore. We finally acquired some additional monthly income, and contacted MAS for help in dealing with our lender. They were very optimistic, took our $1200 up front, helped us draw up a budget, all sounding very above board and reassuring.
Then we got a call from our lender that they had missed a deadline for submitting some paperwork, and the workout process was closed due to MAS not keeping in touch. Then the house went on the auction list, and MAS just wouldn't return calls, or said they'd call us back. And they never did.
These people are scum of the earth, well trained in soothing your fears with kind words, "bonding" you by saying MAS saved their own home from foreclosure, that they have lawyers on staff that play hardball with the mortgage lenders.
I've filed a report with the Florida Attorney General. I want to warn anyone that even thinks about going this route - much easier to take it direct from your lender, if they won't work with you, better know it for free than spend $1200 and find out right before your house goes up for auction that MAS is a rip off joint.
