We have a second mortgage with HSBC, formerly called HFC, for nearly four years now. We have paid over $30,000 to them, and our balance is almost the same as when we started. I have been on disability for the last three, and we have gotten behind on our payments a few times.
In May of we declared bankruptcy.in August, we began discussing options with HSBC, mostly to get our payments to where we could afford, them, or obtaining a lower payout. They told us that we needed to catch up the payments before they would discuss. We then began making $1500.00 payments until November Elise agreed that a lump sum payment of $40,000 to clear this up would be agreeable.
Our calls began to not be returned, we ceased the payments, and it took nearly two months before they called us looking for more money. We were told that Elise was on sick leave, and that is why she didn't call us back. We questioned why someone else didn't pick up her files, or messages, and Mr. Hum told us that he was now handling our account. He said he'd reviewed the file, and they would not lower our payments, they had no reason to, that they had every right to foreclose.
They are now calling our first mortgage holder, and advising them to get their stuff in order. I have tried calling him, and am not getting any response, he just keeps calling the first mortgage holder when he doesn't get through at home.
