I too have had problems with HSBC. I didn't choose them for my mortgage company it was sold to them before the first mortgage payment was due! I didn't even find out that HSBC owned my loan until after the first payment was late... I had mailed the payment to the company I had signed with, who forwarded the payment to HSBC a week after the due date.
I was supposed to have my insurance and taxes paid through my loan (escrow) but it was never set up according to HSBC. Now they are trying to charge me for their insurance which is more than double the cost than the company I go through for a lot less protection. I refuse to pay and have mailed and faxed HSBC the proper papers to prove I have my own insurance many times.
In addition I have my mortgage payment set up through my banks online bill pay and have for many months. Thereby knowing they are paid in full every month! Yet they continue to tell me that I owe for at least 2 or sometimes 3 months in mortgage payments.
I have gotten letters in the mail claiming I owe them one amount, they will call me with a different amount and when I check my mortgage payment online it shows that I'm not behind at all and when my next payment is due for the following month. When I've explained this to their customer service person (after being hung up on one time and put on hold for 30min the next).
They informed me that it was all fine the computer system was fixed and that what I was seeing on the internet was correct I was caught up.
That was about a week ago and I am still getting 10-20 calls during the day from the company demanding money I don't owe them!!
