NSF and Overdraft Charges Boost Their Bonuses ripoff

Before I tell my story below, I also wanted to report that I have a savings overdraft set up, and at one point I had a zero balance. NCB was trying to cover my overdraft, so they "loaned" my savings account ONE PENNY so they could charge me a "Trasfer from Savings" overdraft fee of $10. That was the worst display of bank fraud I have ever experienced. And of course the ONE PENNY did not help the transaction they transferred the funds for.

As you will see below, the local branch keeps all of the NSF and Overdraft fees, that is why they are so reluctant to refund them. This boosts their branches profit and undoubtedly gives them greater quarterly bonuses.

I read another post that mentioned how they process your debits. They do in fact process the highest dollar amounts first to attempt to make your balance go negative so they can start reeling in the fees. It's no wonder they will pay the debits instead of bouncing them, they make thousands of dollars a day just in NSF and overdraft charges!

Here is my report..

For the last couple semesters I have deposited my check for my student loan into a bank account at National City. The first time they gave me a song and dance about a 5 day verification, even though the check was directly from another bank, yet the funds were released the very next day. This time I deposited the check on a Tuesday, and when I called the automated phone banking on Thursday, I was told that I had the whole amount available. So I wrote a couple checks and used my debit card for school supplies. To my surprise there were $190 in fees Monday morning for overdraft charges. I went in there as calmly as possible and told them the story. Basically, I was told "I refunded for you once before, I will not do it again!"

Excuse me but the phone service said I had the money available. "You were made aware of the 5 day hold." But the phone service said "I don't care what the service said, you knew about a 5 day hold." But the last time it was released in one day. "that was last time." Well, I am sick of this, I am not going to keep paying you these fees, I want to close my account. "Ok, how much do you want to withdraw today?"

Just like that, no cares, no willingness to help, just "how much are you going to leave to cover your open transactions?"

To top it off, she made a note in the account that said "refused refund at branch, do not refund except for bank error!" How about the fact that the phone service made an error by telling me my money was available, when it indeed was not. That is an error isn't it?

When I called customer service, they said that because of that note, there was nothing they could do, and there was no one higher I could talk to. I was also told by customer service that those fees are paid directly to that branch, that's why they won't give them back.
