AFNI ripoff Sent The Same Using An Old Phone Number Not Verizon's Acct Sent the same using an old phone number Not Verizon's Acct

I received the same letter as did my husband but different amounts.

I'm telling you AFNI is so sneaky. I glanced at the phone number shown and it is an old phone number we had while in Wildomar, CA. We had GTE or PacBell then. My letter used a phone number we had when we lived in Carlsbad, CA. We had GTE there too. All bills paid. We moved from California to Tucson, AZ in '98.

I just think this is so sneaky of them trying to use old phone numbers. Where in the world did they get these phone numbers? Old phone books? Credit reports? I guess they use these phone numbers to prove the validity of their collections. WRONG!

Well we are going to send our certified letters to make them prove we owe those bills from Verizon.

I will say upon further investigation I did find that GTE was acquired by Bell Atlantic in June to form Verizon. Still, when we moved out of state all bills had been paid.

They may be looking into old GTE phone numbers to try and make you pay a debt that if you did owe has already been written off.
