I always pay my credit card in full and on time, but RBS claimed to have received a payment 2 days late, and slapped me with a $39 late charge plus finance charges. I called customer service to request having the charges removed, and was told would review my account. Two weeks later I received a letter that stated the company regretted that they were "unable to remove the charges." The last time I checked, UNABLE was not synonymous with UNWILLING. So I called customer service, cancelled the card, and mailed a check for the late fee plus the finance charges. The next month I received ANOTHER late charge of $39 and more finance fees because RBS claims it received my payment late. It took them over a week to "process" my payment. I called customer service, which refused to reverse the late fee. So I paid over $80 on an account that was paid in full and already closed!
