Complaint / review text:
June 2005 I called bank of america requesting my savings & checking accts closed. The rep stated it's easier to transfer the money from the savings to the checking & to close the checking so i would only receive 1 check instead of two. The rep said it would take up to 2 weeks before i receive the check.
In august I got online to check the acct & it was showing a negative balance. The rep failed to close the checking & aol charged on the acct. I called the bank in august 2005 & spoke with a rep he told me i would have to dispute the charge before he could close the acct. The acct should of been closed which the rep had seen that i requested the accts to be closed. He informed me the acct would stay open until the dispute went through & that he was really sorry this happened & that it would get fixed. He stated that they would credit the money back if the dispute didn't go, because this was bank of america's error for not closing the acct.
He stated that he would go ahead & check back on the acct & request for the acct to be closed after the dispute was final. Still no check.
I called 11/24/2006. I was transfred many times & finally spoke with a floor manager he stated their records only went back to august 2005 & he could see where the dispute was put through but he would have to research back to see why the acct was not closed properly. I told him that i wanted the money that was in my acct back on the day in june 2005 when both the savings & checking accts should have been closed.
Today i receive a letter from the bank stating "thank you for contacting customer service & support. This letter is to confirm our records indicate that the above referenced acct was closed with a zero balance on october 24,2006"
