First Capital Consumers Group
Ripoff

Around the 10th of April my husband and I received a call from an alleged First Capital Bank (turns out to be First Capital Consumers Group), claiming that I was preapproved for a $2000 Silver Master Card and a $2500 Silver Visa. When asked several times if this was a 'real' credit card, Peter Gates (the man we spoke to) replied that it was indeed a 'real' credit card and is just like the other credit cards that I keep. He told us he would put a rush on it and we should receive the card in about ten business days, and set a date for $199.00 to be debited from my bank account on the 19th. Two weeks pass by and still no credit card. So we called the company (long distance of course) about one hundred times and got the messege center/answering machine, and left about ten messeges in a 2-3 day period and never got a response. Finally, when we called the mail box was full, and still no response from the company. Later we got through to an actual human being, and he said we would receive a 'package' and it would take about 10-15 days from the date out account was debited-which puts us at the end of April beginning of May. After those dates past, more calls were made and we were told it would take 2 weeks by one person and three weeks by the next. On May 25th we received our long awaited 'package', full of other offers for computers, cell phones, trips, legal services etc..., but NO credit cards. When we called, it took about three or four hours to get through to a person, and she then said that we had to send in the card in the package to activate our card and then it would take about 7 business days when they receive the activation card for us to receive our master card. As for the Visa, there were two pieces of paper with numbers to two different Visa institutions (First Premier Bank and Cross Country Bank) for us to call, and get a credit limit 'UP TO' $2500, unlike the promised $2500 Peter Gates told me I was pre-approved for, she had no idea why he told me that, other that the fact that he was a salesman and he was going to tell me that. Over the course of the time that I originally spoke to Peter Gates we spoke to approximately six different people who each gave us different responses than the others. We didn't know what to believe, or what to do for that matter, because they had $200 of ours and we dind't know what for, we certainly weren't seeing anything from it! And we needed that money very badly, a few days after it was debited from our account my husband his second job. So we sent in the activation card and waited and waited and waited. Finally today, June 18th, I got another letter from First Capital Consumers Group titled "Letter of Understanding". This letter says that I need to read and sign this paper and send it back THEN they will send me my master card. Oh, and it's not a $2000 limit, it's not a credit card at all! I have to put the money on the card in order to spend it! Plus! I have to send another $45.00 to recieve and activate my card, and it does not say on this letter that my card will be sent after receiving the voided check and signature. I paid $200 for them to take two and a half months to send me a piece of plastic that I have to put money on to use. All they did was mislead me, telling me this was a true master card, no other money would be needed just the $200 lifetime fee, leading me to believe this was a worthwhile credit card to have, just to find out that it really isn't a credit card at all! I plan on contacting the company and telling them how I feel (already trying, waiting to get through) and asking them to pull up the recording the supposedly taped, because I intend on getting my money back.
