When my GM Card September statement arrived online, I noticed that there was a charge from TLGShopperAdvantage for $89.99. I contacted GM Card and was given a phone number to call.By the time I got this far, my hard copy was already in the mailbox at my house.
I called the phone number and was told that they would remove the charge, if that's what I want, but that being a member of TLGShopperAdvantage would benefit me so much. I told her that I did not want the membership and had never authorized it. She said that I had cashed a check at a bank, which meant that I had wanted to join TLGShopperAdvantage. I argued with her.
When I said that someone must have taken the check out of my mailbox, she said that in order to cash it, the person would have to show a picture ID. I asked how much the check was for and she replied, "$2.50." Since I always tear such checks into tiny pieces, I know this did not happen. They refused to mail me a copy of any check.
Finally, she connected me with a man named Chris who speaks with an accent. He said that my credit card company signed me up three years ago. But, if I insisted, he would deactivate my membership. I told him this was just a scam and hung up. No one would tell me what the $89.99 was for. Then I found out that I have had a GM Card for less than 3 years! Proves that is was a lie.
