Merchants Credit Guide
Ripoff fraudulent defaulted account

I received a bill for $145.36 from Merchants Credit Guide Co. Stating that they purchased my defaulted account from Allegheny Power.

I called them back, only to be told that I would have to send a letter to them to dispute it, saying that it was not my bill. The address they said the past due bill was from was my dads present address in Pennsylvania, which the electric there is not in his name. I have not lived in PA since I was 3 years old.

I have lived at my present address for 9 years and the electric is not even in my name. I called Allegheny Power and found out that they have not sent any delinquent bills to collection in my name. They did not even have me in there system, since I haven't had the electric in my name for over 9 years.

With help from a friend, I am sending a letter back to them explaining that I have contacted Allegheny Power and do not have or never did have a defaulted account with them. I also told them that if I found out that they obtained my credit report under false pretenses that I was going to pursue all legal options.

I am filing complaints with the West Virginia Attorney General, The Illinois Attorney General, The Federal Trade Commision, band all three major credit-reporting agiencies to alert them of this fraudulent action.
