I went to the store asnd attempted to use my debit card and learned shortly after that there was a lean placed on my account. The bank was able to provide me with the name, phone # and index # used to identify the case. When i called i was told that *Ballys Total Fitness* placed contacted them to collect a debt from me. When i questioned the 4,284.70 that they were requesting that tiold me that because i reside in New York they double the actual price. Which would mean that my "real debt" is 2,142.35. I am unemployed and receive Social Security. It has always been my understanding that debt collectors cannot collect off of government money. Please help!!!
