Asset Acceptance is trying to collect a Debt from as far back as 1996. I checked my credit report and it is not even on there. There is another alleged debt, but I am waiting for validation. I am willing to go after them to help myself and others. I want to sue them for trying to collect on a debt that is out of the SOL. I already have the letter they sent regarding a Discover Card that is over 11 years old and they want money for it. I also have my Credit Report from a few years back stating it was charged off. I know this illegal. I am just trying to get advice on the best way to deal with them. I have heard Asset Acceptance is the worst.
I have more info for others if you need help. Don't pay these debt collectors anything. Most of them are NOT licensed and if you give them money it will go into their pockets for play money. These collection agencies are not legit and have no legal right to take your money and NONE of your money will go to the original creditor to pay the debt. They have to validate the debt which goes back to Basic Contract Law that they have to send you a contract between them and your original credit card that shows they bought it and the contract has to be REAL and not so phony piece of junk they made on their computer..
There are alot of BS Collection Agency trolls on here who will try to scare you and put you down. They are all full of it. Go to any lawyer and they will tell you that there is a Statute of Limitations for ALL contracts except Student Loans that stuff get a little more tricky. Pick up a law book-Basic Law covers SOL.
