Woodforest National Bank
Deceitful uncaring greedy ripoff Houston

Let me give you a little insight on this bank. I used to work for Woodforest National Bank. If you are approved for Totally Free Checking, and you never write a bad check. You are okay.

But if you qualify for the Second Chance Checking, you are better off sending money orders and keeping a piggy bank.

Woodforest knows that they are the only bank that offers SCC Second Chance Checking. They are depending on you to write bad checks and pay the 32.00 overdraft fee.

That's why they can say they are the number 3 bank in Texas. It's not for friendly customer service! It's because they make so much money off of overdraft fees. And don't ever ever ever for one second think they care about you!

They don't! I have had so many customers plead with me to help with the bank fees. For example. Another "catch" for them is the fact that you can go 500.00 negative on Totally Free Checking, and 200.00 negative if you have the SCC.

That is the overdraft protection. Of course, most banks have that as well. But at Woodforest, if you use your debit card and you go into the negative, even after you have opted out of this service, you are STILL going to get charged the 32.00 fee.

The bank is, again, counting you to use the card and bring you to a negative balance. Even if you go over by 1 cent! And they won't refund with out asking a the asst. VP of that branch/region.

And she is the most grouchy, non customer service friendly, uncaring woman! Did I mention UNFRIENDLY? She doesn't care if your children are starving to death! She will make fun of you to other employees after you hang up!

I know this for a fact! And "There is no such thing as grey when it comes to good customer service." What ever that means. It's something I heard every day.

As I watched people get treated like garbage behind their backs. Sometimes to their face. And if you want to deposit a check for a large amount. Let's say. 800.00. If it is a personal, hand written check, it will go on hold for as many as 14 business days.

Even printed checks sometimes go on hold. I can't even begin to tell you how many angry customers I had to deal with on that issue. We had meetings on how we can get more money out of people! More fees!

And at Woodforest, you don't have to have a college degree to get a job. Which is great! But they also hire high school students!

When I started there, I was trained by a attitude filled teenager! And I am in my 30's. Would you really want to trust your money to that?

I know I sound bitter because I used to work for them. And I didn't leave on bad terms. I was just an employee who really cared about my customers. And I hated to see them treated like this.

I'm not telling you to not open an account with them. I am just warning you. I, personally, wouldn't want to work or bank with a company who makes their profits off the backs of hard working people who get in to financial trouble sometimes.

We have all been there!!
