Woodforest is one of the only banks in my area that will help people with blemishes on their credit.in my case I owed Fifth Third $23 for closing my account during a divorce then I opened an account with Woodforest two years later. Woodforest will find any excuse to hold a check.instead of calling and verifying funds at another bank they say it will clear in 10 business days. But when they hand you the agreement about the holding the paper states "they have inside information that the check will not be cleared". Now why would they put that as the reason unless they called the other bank and the funds weren't there? It is an excuse to hold the funds. I find it appalling and just another way to screw people who are in a bind and stuck with them. I now take the checks to the bank that the check is written through and cash it for a small fee then deposit it into my account. Every time I go to the other bank the tellers ask why my bank doesn't just verify the funds and then state that I should find a real bank. I couldn't agree more. And if any employee of Woodforest wants to rebuttal my statement then feel free to. You are all under educated, under informed, and down right rude. It's kind of comical how rude they are considering they work in a bank at WalMart with little to no formal training or education in finance, yet I can go into a reputable bank and be treated like gold no matter how long I've been a customer.
