On July 5, I spoke with David Wiley of the Westbrook Trust Company who informed me that I had been approved for a loan in the amount of $5000.in order to secure this loan, I need a co-signer or I needed to obtain insurance which would act as security for the loan. On July 6, I received an e-mail from Mr. Wiley containing a loan agreement and information on the insurance.
Mr. Wiley and I conversed via the telephone for the next couple of days at which time I informed him that I did not have a co-signer, however, I would try to obtain the money to purchase the insurance. He told me that after six months, I would receive half of the insurance back and when the loan was paid off I would receive the balance.
On Tuesday, July 11, I wired via Money Gram $1,240.55 to pay for the insurance. This money was wired to Shawn Donaldson in Ontario, Canda who was suppose to be the courier for the insurance company. I also faxed to Mr. Wiley the signed loan agreement, proof of income, a copy of my driver license, and a voided check. This information was to be forwarded to the processing department.
On Thursday, July 14, I received a call from Mr. Wiley informing me that because of a discharged bankruptcy on my report, I need to obtain the more expensive insurance. He assured me that everything was ready to go and upon the receipt of the balance of the money for insurance, the loan money would be released.
On Friday, July 15, I again wired via Money Gram $746.85 to Shawn Donaldson making a total of $1,987.40 for insurance. Shortly after I talked with Mr. Wiley giving him the refernce number for the transaction and he told me he would give me a call as soon as the loan money was released. I never heard from him.
For 2 weeks I tried to contact Mr. Wiley. I also called every extension in the company. I managed to talk with a couple of other reps and they each told me that they would forward my message and someone would get back with me by the end of day.
I have heard nothing from no one.
