Citizens first bank is a scam!!!
For months I have been using my citizens first checking account without problems. I deposited my check into the atm on thursday night and was able to use the funds on Sunday. Recently however my funds haven't been available until Wednesday night. Nearly a week later! This creates a hardship when trying to pay for gas to get to work. Also I received an overdraft charge for withdrawing funds that according to the atm inquirey were available.
I called the customer service number and was told that the overdraft fee was a mistake. I was told by a "scott" at customer service that the system is new and they still are working out the "bugs" apparantly citizens first doesn't have a problem working out "bugs" at their customers expense.
This morning I checked out my checking balance at the atm. According to the slip I got I had a positive balance of several hundred. During work my wife called me and told me about another overdraft letter I got from citizens. I called citizens again and they told me that the account was in the negative because my paycheck still didn't clear. I was also told that even though my atm slip shows a positive balance I will be getting more overdraft fees tomorrow.
At first I thought it all might be human error and gave them the benefit of the doubt but now it is obvious that citizens first is intentionally misleading their customers on their account balance in order to charge them overdraft fees. Why else would an atm inquiry show a higher balance then is actually there? Why would they let them withdraw funds that aren't really there then charge them overdraft? CITIZENS FIRT IS A SCAM!
I tried to call the Lapeer Michigan office to work it out but was treated rudely and basically called a liar when I told them that I never received a letter about the longer check holding time. The girl basically called me stupid and told me that I didn't know how to balance a check book. Funny thing, I never had a problem with the balance until they started playing greedy games with my account balance. Citizens first is getting away with fraud i would avoid them.
