Chase Manhattan was the worse credit card I have ever owned. For starters the interest rate seem to have went up every month. My introductory rate was 4.9.. All of a sudden without warning the rate went sky high to 20.98 and they charges 20.98 for three different categories and that didn't even included late charges. Late charges was a flat 20.00. So actually the interest rates was not 20.98 but 80.% extremely high and crazy. I would have never even signed up with chase Manhattan if I knew of this business they carried
Besides all of the high interest rate that went up I still maintained to be a very good customer always paid on time. Never late.
I used 2000.00 dollars on my credit card. I brought my account down to 900.00 dollars
Until... I was laid off from a job. I called chase Manhattan to notify them of my lay off and asked if they could work with me a little. For starters all I wanted them to do was set an automatic withdraw from my savings account. Which they have done before. But for some reason this time they acted as though they had no clue what I was talking about and said they couldn't do it.
So as time went on I was getting back up with my chase bills. So I called and asked again could you please work with me here. Im on unemployment and I cant possibly pay the asked monthly amount you request. Could you please lower the amount. And could you possibly lower the interest rate. Or at least cut the many times you charge on bill. The answer was still no they can do nothing. I repeatedly got irritating rude phone calls from chase Manhattan reps. No lie they called 4 times a day even late at night the latest was 10.00pm. Making rude remarks. Actually telling me I should find someone to borrow the money from.
Doing this time every payment I made was paying off the interest fees. Never beginning to pay off the actual money that I used the credit card for. I have receipts that I paid the 900.00 and it all went to paying the interest
rate.
My account was climbing up from 900.00 to 1000.00. After my account reached up to 1500.00 I refused to pay anything. I always argued and asked for chase Manhattan to back off a little. They still refused to.
Three years later. After my account is now 3998.64 all from interest. Now chase Manhattan want to make a deal. They called at the end of the month saying ok ms we will make a deal with you. If you can send us 1500 we will clear your account. The trick was I had to send it within 3 three days. If I didn't send it in three days they will continue to add the interest rate to my account and end the deal..
I dot know about other people. But IM not rich I cant just send 1500 off to someone in 3 days.
Chase Manhattan is the only credit card that put a dent in my credit history.
Oh by the way chase Manhattan was sued by a customer. I was apart of that law suite. The customer won. The settlement that I won was. 70 cents. Chase Manhattan had the nerve to mail me a 70 cent check.
Which I kindly mailed back to them and said but it towards my account.
I refuse to pay chase. They are a complete rip off. They intended to please customers. Just grab as much money from them as possible.
From this point. I waiting for the account to reach 1 million dollars. Im not contributing anymore of my money to their money making scam business. They try anyway possible to trap customers in a situation to rob them.
10 people that owned chase Manhattan credit cards that saw what I was gin through automatically discontinued their service with chase without thinking twice.
