I have a checking account with Wellsfargo that i have had for quite some time now. I am very anal about checking my online statement every day per i have had fraud perpetrated againest me and working for an accounting department i find it is a good habit to get into. It just so happens when i loooked this up on last week i noticed that i had a couple of pending transactions on the online statement—If these items were to clear i could potentially be overdrawn. I immediatly moved money into the account and rested well that night knowing that i would not be charged overdraft fees. Wrong!!! I woke up and checked my account again. I was billed 99 dollars in overdraft fees. I immediately emailed them to see if i was misunderstanding the concept of pending transactions. Through my work i deal with many banks and the common thread is that pending transactions are not on your account yet. I received a response back saying that these pending items were test authorizations and can take up to 3 days to post to the account. This makes sense to me& so i respond that if this is not yet posted to my account how can i receive fees on something that has not technically posted yet. No response. This actually adds up to over$200 in fees at this point. Because everytime i go online they keep charging me for things that i am not expecting. My problem is per there own admittion they are not able to charge fees on these. They are not charges until the point when the pending comes off. I read another thing on here about withholding deposits until after the overdraft fees billed, possibly this is the same situation.
