I recently went to check my online account and saw that I have four $36 miscellaneous withdrawals pending on my account. Naturally I called PNC and they told me they were overdraft fees. I was a little baffled my account had not been overdrawn as I can plainly see on my online account - not once had it dipped below even $100. They explained that I had some pending transactions that HAD they posted would have overdrawn my account. I said that was understandable, but since they hadn't posted before my deposit went through and that my account had not been overdrawn, so I asked if they would kindly refund those overdrafts fees.
They refused.
I explained they have no right to give me overdraft fees upon speculation that I am GOING to overdraft my account unless I actually DO overdrawn on my account. Even with these four transactions pending I had checked my balance the day prior and still had enough available money to cover the costs.
She agreed to refund TWO of the overdraft fees and that it would take about 24 hours. It has now been over 24 hours and I still have not been refunded the amount she told me I would. I have been a PNC customer for almost ten years and to be quite honest I am very dismayed at this customer service. I am fully aware that when I actually DO overdraw on my account I am subject to overdraft fees but they have no right to apply overdraft fees based on speculation that I am going to overdraw on my account.
