I received a call about signing up for a visa. After getting my information, they tell me that I have a $2000 credit limit and that I would need to deposit $200 from my checking account like a prepayment which I would be able to use once I get the card. They helped me set up 2 separate payments in case of insufficient funds. They sounded pretty professional with all the recordings and their background noise. Once I told my husband about this, he immediately said that it was a scam and told me to cancel it. I tried calling the customer service and I kept on getting an answering machine.
After the first payment went through, I decided to do some research and found that many had been victims to this same company. I continued calling and left messages about cancelling, but I still haven't received a call back yet. I quickly followed the editor's suggestion to go to my bank. Once I got there, I found out that I had to make my stop payment and the file for the federal regulation E by phone. I called them and let them know my situation and they even waived my stop payment fee because I do not wish it to be authorized. They said that a specialist would help me take care of it and that I could call the company back and give them a piece of my mind if I wanted to.
