I was called today regarding a $2000 line of equity credit card by a man named Steve Gallippi. He went on to tell me they help people who have bad credit to rebuild their credit. All they require is a 200.00 deposit which would be refunded back to me in 4 $50.00 vouchers in which I could use to make payments to my credit card.
He told me he was from Capital One. Since I already have a Capital One credit card, I agreed, since they offered me a better interest rate. I went on to give him my info, my name, address, ss, banking information, etc. He then said the money would be taken out on the 26th of May.
During the recording, I interupted him to ask him if I could cancel this credit card before they took the money out of my account if I wanted to. And he said that I could cancel with no penalty charges so I agreed. But after I asked this question, he told me that we would have to do the recording over giving me some nonsense about how the recording is timed, and it has to be done in a certain ammount of time.
After ending the call, I felt weird about the whole thing and called Capital One. They told me they had no "line of equity credit card". I then called the customer service phone number, 1888 281 6710 that he had given to me and heard an automated machine say "Capital Financial". NOT CAPITAL ONE.
So I went on the internet, to look up Capital Financial's website, thinking most credit cards have a website, in which users can sign up to and make payments or apply for credit cards. I didn't find their website, however, I did find this site, and after reading all the complaints (THANK YOU EVERYONE who reported their experience with Capital Finance), immediately called my bank Wells Fargo. They have now made a stop payment on anything from Capital Financial. And after explaining why I needed the stop payment, their great customer service waived the fee and said if for some reason, they do somehow take the money out of my account, to call them back, and they would take care of it.
So thank you everyone who posted on here and all others, beware of Capital Financial!!!
