National Legal Debt Center
Receives from $670.00 to put towards paying my creditor. Paid monthly since February. No payment has been sent to creditors. Now receive letters from collection agencies and lawyers, RIPOFF!

In January I signed up with NLDC where they agreed to help me consolidate my credit in three to four years. I provided them the information they request and began making monthly payment of $670 since February.

Instead of negotiating with creditors on the money that I paid in, the amount went directly into a setup fee. As a result, none of the creditors have been paid. I was also told that before any negotiation can be done, I would need to have a balance to cover the amount negotiated.

Given the fact that they took all but $85.00 out of what I paid, paying 45,000 in debt will take years. I doubt very much if the credit card companies will be that understanding. I did ask about the fees and they told me that I would only have to pay the monthly admin fee which could be about $50, it's $75.00.

The set up cost me $2300 which I was not aware of. I know have more to pay due to late fees, over the limit, and interest. Let alone, I am now dealing with Collection agengies and lawyers. I did receive a document from NLDC where it told me not to talk with the credit card companies. If I did, to read them language pretty much saying that I have given National Legal Debt Center Power of Attorney to deal on my behalf.

Most if not all credit card companies have ignored this. I was told not to negotiate with the creditors. Change my telephone number. Send out cease and desist letters. I was also told that I would constantly have feedback. The only feedback I received was based on my initiative.

Even then most of my emails went ignored until I escalated to home office instead of customer service. Just received by statement which I should have received earlier. Only received it now because I again initiated. When I asked to cancel, told that it would cost me to do this.

I'm furious since I owe more now than I did when I started this program and my credit is truly shot. I feel I am now a victim and companies like NLDC should not be allowed to do this to people. We read documents carefully but there seems to be a lot to intrepret between the lines. I am now forced to see if I can take out an loan or take a distribution from my pension plan since the credit card companies are now asking for the full amount.
