I, too, am using Persels and Associates for my credit card debt relief. Although cease and desist letters are sent to creditors, constant update with the agency is required when an account is sent to litigation. They do not send a C&D letter to Citibank or its affiliates as Citibank does not listen. While this whole process with debt relief sounds great, I should have gone with CCCS as I had before. They at least froze my accounts, no one called, and they made monthly payments for me out of the set amount I sent to them. While it didn't save me as much overall in personal debt relief, I don't believe it adversely affected my credit as much although it did go on my credit report as a bankruptcy.
I am being charged $50/$221 for legal fees. 25% of my payment is being kept for the lawyers who are sitting on their asses right now 'until I accumulate enough escrow to make a settlement worth while'. This could take forever since the whole idea of debt relief is that I cannot afford to pay everyone every month.in this process, my PARENTS are getting phone calls on their CELL PHONES of creditors trying to find me! I am also racking up finance charges as the companies will not freeze the accounts unless I make a payment to them as part of a hardship. HA!
At $600/year in legal fees, that could help with paying off one of the smaller creditors that I have and help my credit score just a little. As of now, I won't be able to buy a house or car on decent credit until 2022 if I am lucky.
