Ripoff: Fraud and Extortion tactics

I received a letter from SYNCOM dated 6/16/05. It is in regard to a debt they say I owe to Vanderbilt Mortgage in the amount of $3062.00. The fact of the matter is that property was left to my ex-wife after a divorce settlement. I have not lived at that address since September 1997 and my divorce finalized on April 1998. I had no contact with my ex-wife, but I assume she let the property "go back".in addition, the foreclosure shows on my credit reports and I've had no contact with Vanderbilt Mortgage in years. Now 8 years later, I get this letter out of the blue. This appears like fraudulent practice by Vanderbilt and/or SYNCOM because they foreclosed on the property, put it on my credit report, and now are trying to collect again.
