Vanderbilt Mortgage
Ripoff, dishonest, fraudulent

In 2002 We got a mortgage through Vanderbilt. We too were harassed, threatened with foreclosure starting one month after we got into the home. We were told when our first payment was due by Vanderbilt only for them to change it and want it the month before the agreed date.

We first start out doing the automated payments twice a month however they were taking out payments on a weekly basis so it was 2 full house payments in one month. We tried to stop them by sending the company and bank a letter ordering it to stop however that didnt stop Vanderbilt. The bank finally closed our bank account due to it always being insufficent funds as Vanderbilt kept on getting the money even though we were sending by check the amount equalling 3 house payments in one month and we arent that rich to even double up on payments. However the phone calls and letters never ceased and when the bank closed the account Vanderbilt employees got nastier. Even told us they had wanted our property from the start.

When we went to pay it off we were told 6 months of interest would be added on to our finally payoff amount. The mortgage company we were using was getting the we cant give a final amount a payment is due. This went on for 6 months. We have 3 different totals in letters for a payoff and we paid the highest of the three. From the first payoff to the last payoff (6 months later) it went up at least $5000. For 4 years now we have requested our payment printout and each time we are either denied it or its been sent and never arrives. We were on a fixed rate per the signed contract and when talking with the rude employees we were told that our payments varied by the interest rate.

Now we are in the process of getting a mortgage now in 2006 and being held up on one as Vanderbilt reported to the credit bureau's as us filing either Chapter 7, Chapter 11, or Chapter 12 on our credit report. We have title and deed marked paid and have had it since 2004. We called Vanderbilt April and have spoken to different people that state they dont report to the credit bureau's that the credit bureua's just put what they want to and its out of Vanderbilt's hands.
