Complaint / Review
Equifax
Ripoff, doesn't have act togethe

In 2002 I declared Bankruptcy. Also that year I got married. Since my credit had been wiped clean I didn't change any of my accounts over to my new married name, however, I did keep my truck and changed my name immediately. I only paid on my vehicle and tried to clean up my credit.

It has been 2 year now with my paying monthly on my account, and I would think my credit score would go up. It has not. I had found out that Equifax had a split credit report on me. One in my married name and one in my maiden name.

I contacted equifax right away after being denied a car loan (it was the toyota dealership that found my split credit repot). I sent Equifax my marriage cert, my birth cert, my BK papers (since 2 accounts still showed outstanding, but were included in the BK). They removed the two accounts, but left my report split. I called the agency, and talked to several people. They told me my account is now one.

I gave them a month to send my my updated credit report so I can see what they did, and low and behold there was the two accounts they had removed previously, showing outstanding again. Maiden name still there.

So I called equifax back a third time and said please remove the account and change my name to my married name.

Finally I got my account this week all cleared up, thinking I could finally apply for a new car due to the rising gas prices. I got declined again. I go and look at my credit report again and its still in my maiden name. I plan to call the agency tomorrow to speak to a supervisor since apparently they people this company hired are not intelligent enough to change one name to the other with given documentation.

Also My husband and I want to buy a house soon, this is messing up my credit because of the pulls to it by the auto dealership to see if equifax has fixed my problem yet.

I also work in a field where they check your credit, and if it gets to bad I don't know if I can get a job transfer or not. This is outrageous. First off hire people who speak the english language as a first language, next hire people with at least a high school education so they understand the difference between a married and a maiden name. And finally quit screwing over the public.
