In January we came home to find that our house had been on fire and the contents were burned and what was not burnt was so heavily smoke damaged that it was unuseable.
We were instructed to call our insurance company so we did the following day. The adjuster came out to see the house several days later. He took pictures and said he was very sorry and he would try to get us some answers in a few days as to how the policy would be handled either rebuild it or buy new.
Several weeks later they came to the conclusion that my home was not worth what I had it insured for. I insured it for 65,000 I still owed 64698.00 American Family deemed my house worth only 27,000.00 but said if we wanted to rebuild they would give us 38,000.00.
If my house was only worth 27,000.00 how come they wrote my policy for 65000.00 and allowed me to pay those high premiums?
Why would they pay 38,000.00 to rebuild something that was worth 27,000.00
My insurance agent came and inspected my home before he wrote the policy how come he did not think then the house was only worth 27,000.00?
My husband and our four children are now trying to rebuild our lives while paying for two homes wich is not feasible if we take the 27,000.00 then we have to build again but still have this debt of the home we lost. I thought that is why you paid insurance premiums so you would not have this tremendous burden if something happened.
I also turned in our contents pages to our agents and they want serial numbers and more information on Items that are burnt and long gone how am I supposed to supply them with this sort of info?
I don't understand how a company can get away with desroying six peoples live like this.
My insurance adjuster Mr Kirk Bellz was telling me my home was pretty much a total loss the day he looked at it and then changed his mind weeks later.
