Dear All - Some advice
I work in the direct mail industry, and am familiar with the thousands of credit card offers in existence. First things first:
- If an offer doesnt mention in the letter either VISA or Mastercard etc registered trademarks - IGNORE IT.
- If you didnt apply either by phone or mail - IGNORE IT
- A company that has no telephone no. On the letter is dubious.
- Nobody extends monetary credit (ie a VISA/MCARD/AMEX) etc without a credit check, and you need to authorize them to do that.
- Nobody offers credit of $5000 without a good credit history - ask yourself do you have good credit. No credit is not necessarily good credit.
- Those with bad credit or no credit receive offers from such companies because they prey on low income/bad credit consumers who are desperate to rebuild their credit for a fresh start.
I too recieved one of these offers but chose to ignore it, my credit is bad and I want to rebuild it too, but I'll rebuild it with a reputable bank like Capital One, Providian etc.
