This company has ripped me off of over $500 claiming that my various cards were going to be consolidated. The sales person (counselor) that I worked with (Michael Diaz) pressured me to send him the initial payment.
Once I sent the payment, I did not hear back from the company. I contacted them repeatedly to no avail. Finally, once I reached them they told me that they had already contacted my various creditors but that they needed the second payment already if I wanted their assistance. I contacted my creditors and they told me that no one had contacted them.
Since I was late on that month's payment thinking that CCCS (as they also call themselves) had payed my monthly commitment, some of the cards increased their promotional APR to a whopping 20%.
I then explained my situation to the various creditors and they were very flexible with me and often removed the late fee charges. However, none agreed to lower the APR.
In one instance, with American Express, they cancelled my account stating that AE does not extend credit to persons that consolidate their credit. I told them that since no one had contacted them that it was not necessary to do that. However, AE told me that since I informed them that they had to close my account. They told me to get a letter from CCCS stating that I was no longer in their program.
So, I contated CCCS and told them to cancel my account and to refund my monies. After much hassle, they agreed to return my money in 90 days!!! Their justification for the delay is that they claim that I could cancel my check — however, I told them that the check had cleared since I had a copy of the cancelled check in my possesion. The rep then told me that the banks could still cancell the check. So, I contacted my bank and they said that there was nothing that the bank could do once the check had been cashed.

DO NOT deal with these companies. I will also send a similar letter to the local BBB, FBI, FTC, FL DA's office and anybody that needs to investigate these persons. I do not know how they can easily open up a non-profit that claims to help consumers when they are indeed ripping them off.
