Ripoff claims I owe AT&T money I never HAD an account with AT&T

I have only used Verizon and MCI as phone utilities. Several years ago Verizon renegotiated their long distance carrier (AT&T), which affected a behind-the-scenes switch to Verizon's package deal that they provided to me. After the switch, I began receiving letters from AT&T claiming I owed them $100 for long distance calls. I never bought services from AT&T and paid all bills on time and in full to Verizon. Palisades Collection then contacted me claiming I still owed money to AT&T. Now it's on my credit report and Palisades is nowhere to be found. Crooks!
