I recently had my wall unit air condition/heat unit checked over in the preventive maintenance part of my Protection Agreement Plan. It was determined the unit needed a part which was not working properly. The technician ordered the part and later it was determined the part is no longer available and the unit which was purchased from Sears around 2005 is no longer an item or product carried by Sears (discontinued). I am told because this unit is no longer carried by Sears I cannot get the required replacement for it. This unit is the type of wall unit used in hotels or schools which is 42x16. The unit the protection agreement will replace meet all of the specifications except the dimensions. There is a unit which is compatible to size I require on Sears.com but I%u2019m told because it is a third party dealer Sears Protection Agreement will not order/pay for the item.
Under the protection agreement they will replace a window size air condition/heat unit up to $700.00 but will not authorize the same amount to replace the unit through third party dealer. I have spent hours on hours trying to get this issue resolved. The unit has a Sears Item #SPM7707623702, Mdl# KTHM015-E5C2 and is listed at $859.00 I have no problem in paying the additional cost which would be according to the protection agreement but feel the amount agreed upon for replacement $700.00 should be honored by protection agreement. The $700.00 replacement cost was in response to a window unit instead of a wall unit so even if the cost would not be recalculated for wall unit I would have no problem paying the additional cost.
If you would check my records you will see every appliance in my home to include two garden tractors are protected under Sears Protection Agreement. I%u2019m wondering why should I continue to have all my items protected under your agreement when if another item ends up as the wall unit I am not covered. I also make purchases with my Sears Credit Card from time to time when cost higher than paying cash. What if I have other items discontinued or no longer in Sears stock will I be left to purchase these items as well even though they are under the protection agreement and purchased from Sears?
