I went into ShopKo to pick up some times that I needed for my house. I found myself perusing around the store, and ended up over by the storage section of the store.
There was an item called the "Neu Home Single Cube with Door, " that was priced at $11.99. The price tag was the white sticker underneath the item that has the price, along with the SKU, and the barcode. There was no clearance sticker attached to this item, it seemed like just another item that had a great price.
I then noticed that there was a sale on all laminate storage items, which was 50% off of the ticketed price. By my calculations, the storage cubes should have been about $6.00 a piece. So, I eagerly grabbed two, and went to checkout.
At the checkout line, I was surprised to see that the item rang up as $11.99, and the sale price was not on the unit. The cashier asked where I had found the item, and I explained the sales price, the original ticket, and what had happened. The cashier called back and the lady told her that the price that was listed was the sales price, despite the "50% off" sale that was covering the item.
I asked her if they would honor the price that had been labeled, and she told me that $11.99 was the sales price. It was not labeled as such, there was no clearance sticker there, and it was just ridiculous. I told her I did not want the item, and I have officially sworn off ShopKo.
I cannot believe that they would not honor the pricing that was listed. Was it my fault that the item was listed wrong? No. Shouldn't ShopKo have to be held accountable for what they have done? Yes. Did they even try to act like they cared for the customer? NO.
I am irate, and so disappointed that I will no longer be shopping at ShopKo, just because there is not a care in the world for the people who shop there. I will be sure that everyone I know who shops there will stop as well. This was ridiculous.
