I have been banking with BB&T for 15 years. A lot of my friends have switched from BB&T because of excess charges on everything they do. They have a no-tolerance attitude. If an account is .05 cents off, they love to charge you a big fee.
My trouble started when I wanted to buy a burial plot from my church. I had the money. I transferred it from my credit card to my checking account. No problem.
My statement a month later had a 20 percent charge for the money transferred. I called and got nowhere with BB&T. Their policy on transfers always gets a higher rate, and this high rate will remain as long as you use the card.
They also charged me a $21.00 fee when I transferred the money. I will be closing this account shortly.
