got frustrated with paying for 250 chanels and watching 3, called in late june, 2012 to cancel, talked to rep over phone and got all info to cancel, ie no extra fees and account would be credited for current amount due as soon as the equip was recieved, rep said accnt was canceled and i would recv the return box in 7-10 days. No box in 2 wks. Called back in mid july to inquire, rep stated account was not canceled and there was no record of my contact but he would be glad to take care of it for me, went through the whole process again and was told 7-10 days i would get box, Waited... NO BOX! Called BACK abt aug 1st, rep stated that the acount was not canceled and there was no record of my contact, went through the whole cancel process again with the rep on phone and finished call with info to include: the account has been canceled for you, will recieve return box in 7-10 days, do not pay the bill i had just recvd - that this would be credited as soon as they recv equip back... GOT BOX on front porch, packed up the reciever and lnb as requested and shipped it next day at the ups store.!!! Jump ahead to today 9-10-12, i get a bill from DISh for 173.18$, and it says account suspended for nonpayment, "what the..." I called the customer no service number and was transfered to a collections rep, after explaing all the above details he responds to me "you never voluntarily canceled your account it was canceled for non payment", and he stated that i "never called there company", i tried to explain the facts and he kept interupting stating "you didnt do that".. What... Now im being called a liar by a rep that only knows what his computer screen says, also isnt it not-funny that he claims they canceled the acount at there discresion about the same day i called them to cancel it. AND he stated that i owed an early cancel fee. I have never been so mistreated by a business, i was given poor cust service, and obviously bad information and guidance by several dish empoyees and when i tried to put the facts out and resolve, i was basicly called liar and was refused any resolution or options.
If someone from Dish would like to contact me thats fine, but i hope its more profesional than as of yet.
