Refund Missing

On July 12, I discontinued service with Windstream. The next billing period, my credit card was billed anyway. I've been waiting for two months for a refund. Now, I'm told a check will be mailed out by Oct. 3 from the corporate offices. I asked why the refund wasn't sent to my credit card and was told they don't issue refunds to credit cards once an account has been closed. That's interesting since my credit card was billed after the account was closed.
