We went to HHI in April and meet with a sales person from the Coral Resorts and we were very much interested in what they had to offer, I have been visiting the island for the past 20 years and love the island, the sales person explained to us that we could visit the island 3 times a year and have the option to purchase a 4th week or sell it, but the 3 weeks were a for sure thing, he showed us a beuatiful 3 bedroom condo at the Coral Sands resort, and we asked numerous if we would get three weeks at this resort at the price of 17,900.00 and a maintance fee of 300.00 per year and he said absolutely and we again said this resort and unit, if we asked once we asked we asked 100 times and the same answer was absolutely, that we would want to call 30 days out to maximize our usage and be guaranteed the three weeks each year. We explained that we wanted to visit in April and October each year and he assured us that at those times of the year no problem at all, I called in September to RCI as I was instructed to book my week, and to my surprise was told I didn't have enough points to stay anywhere on the island and certainly not with 30 days notice. I tried to call Coral Resorts and left message after message and nobody would return my call, I then rec'vd a call from vacation services offering to comp us a stay so that we could discuss our package so we had no option but to do this and we were offered to stay at Park Suites which was not even close to the Coral Sands in what they had to offer and was only for 3 nights and cost us approx $80.00, we meet with a new sales person and she seems to feel our pain and stated that the sales rep that we talked to in April in fact had lied to us and was no longer with the company and that he worked on commission and that she was salary and worked only with owners to make things right, she explained that we in fact could get 3 weeks and explained that if we signed a new coontract and paid an additional $6000.00 she kept telling us this was the only way to get what we wanted and with what we purchased no way we could visit the island annually for 1 week etc., we agreed and when we returned home I sent a check and called to book our week in April and was told I don't have a week in April that I in fact had purchased week 47 annually (which is in November) I stated so let me understand I paid 24k dollars for a week in November each year and I'm required to pay $750.00 maintance fee per year, and David with the Coral Resorts who is somebody who just answers questions but can not do anything about the contract and will not put you in touch with anybody else that could help resolve the problem, and he stated that is correct. I am certian that I could go to HHI for 750.00 in November on my own and not pay 24k dollars, I talked to the paralegal at Barnwell Whaley Patterson & Helms LLC (Teresa) and explained that I would be placing a stop payment on my check and that we were scammed and she advised both myself and Mr. Benca whom I purchased the timeshare with that she would have Leslie contact us and gave us her extension we have never heard from Leslie and we have both called everyday this week and left a message and have not rec'vd a call, I have since been on line and see that many people have fallen to this scam, I do not understand how a company such as this with the complaints etc., is still able to do business in the state of South Carolina, I am in the process of contacting the real estate commission and the Better Business bureau - in which Coral Resorts has an F rating, as well as the Atty General of South Carolina
