Bluegreen Resorts, Outdoor Traveler, Bluegreen Vacation Club, That Travel Company Inside Bass Pro Shops Stores bad business, dishonest, SEC litigation, underhanded, predatory, high-pressure, Bass Pro Shops, disregard for customers

Bluegreen Resorts is a shell-of-a-shell company. What makes it go? Gullible people, of which I am one. Prior to this experience I really believed that the era of the oily salesperson who will say anything to get your money had come to an end. Sadly, this is not the case for Bluegreen. Top to bottom, this company is a dishonest one. Don't take my word for it. See for yourself, but you have been warned.

Below, please find the narrative of my official complaint to the Alabama Attorney General's office, verbatim. Yes, I was asked to leave elementary school, y'all. Bass Pro Shops is further sullying their reputation each and every time they permit this "company" to do business in one of their retail establishments:

"On or about Jan. 26 of this year, I was shopping at the Bass Pro Shops store in Prattville, AL with my family. I was approached by a saleswoman from Bluegreen Vacation Resort Club. I was in a rush to begin with, and my children were quite distracted, and in an effort to extract myself from the very persistent salesperson's grip I allowed $99 to be debited from my bank account in exchange for some slick-looking brochures about what turned out to be a time-share operation.

Almost immediately I had buyer's remorse and was told by a company rep. That a refund was not possible, but that they'd be willing to sweeten the pot by throwing in some gift cards and room upgrades if I would choose one of their destinations and an estimated travel window. I declined this offer. At that point I began to research the company, found many, many consumer complaints both formal and informal, and resolved to ignore Bluegreen's correspondence, chalking up the lost
money to a life lesson learned. They called again yesterday, I didn't recognize the number, and I answered, only to be greeted by a very high-pressure salesman named Adrian. Adrian promised a Carnival cruise if I signed on to a trip to their Orlando resort sometime in the month of November. I stated that I'd have to discuss any travel plan with my spouse. Adrian persisted, going so far as to suggest I sign on to a particular stay and ask my wife for forgiveness later if it turned out to be a problem. I again declined and asked him to send me the cruise and vacation offer in writing via email. Adrian instead signed me up for a visit November 6-8. The "fine print" says that if I don't call to cancel, I will be charged for a night at full price. I didn't reserve the stay, so why should I be charged? Everything is very official-looking, with tons of state-specific legal jargon. This company is dishonest to its core. The SEC has litigation pending on its CEO, Alan Levan. Alabamians are experiencing difficult-enough economic times without having to be bled by one more out-of-state leech. Given its record of dishonesty, why is Bluegreen Corp. Still allowed to operate here? What must I do to ensure that Bluegreen does not continue to victimize my family?"

If you're employed by Bluegreen, i feel very sorry for you. There must surely be a better way to feed your family than to lie down with these dogs. I'm not out to impugn anyone's character. Just read for yourself what the SEC has to say about the CEO, Mr. Alan Levan: http://www.sec. Gov/litigation/complaints/comp22229. Pdf. He appears to me to be the face and the "soul" of the company, if he or it indeed have souls.
